3 Stretches for Better Sleep
Posted: 26 May 2025
On the final day of the Sleep Guide, we slow things right down.
A simple stretch can help release tension, centre your breathing, and make you feel more grounded...
In other words, it’s the perfect wind-down before bed.
And the best part? It doesn’t need to be complicated. Just three easy steps are all it takes, as shown by one of our lovely dreamers, Heidi Lampard.

Step 1: Child’s Pose
Calms the nervous system, releases tension in the back, and shoulders, and encourages deep breathing to help the body prepare for sleep.

Step 2: Legs Up the Wall
Reduces swelling in the legs, soothes the nervous system by reducing strain on the heart and lowering cortisol levels.

Step 3: Supine Twist
Gently stimulates the Vagus Nerve, which regulates the body’s
relaxation response. Also aids in digestion and detoxification

The Benefits of Stretching Before Bed
Stretching is simple but makes a big difference. Taking a few moments to slow down, connect with your breath, and release tension from the day helps tell your body it's time to rest. It signals to your nervous system that it’s safe to relax, which is exactly what you need before sleep.
Plus, stretching can help:
- Reduce stiffness
- Support digestion
- Calm a racing mind
A few mindful moves (like the ones Heidi shares above) can help you feel more at ease, physically and mentally.
Stretching is a great step toward better sleep. So put your rest first, and join the 7-day sleep reset.
