Who says you need a yearly trip to Europe when you can have the same feeling at home?
Designed to feel like a holiday at home, every corner of this space invites you to slow down, sink in, and indulge.
Some homes just get a colour, and the moment we laid eyes on @bilinga_beach_abodes, we knew Cherrywood belonged there. With its dreamy, Euro-inspired interiors, soft curves, sun-washed tones, and just the right amount of Cherrywood drama, it felt like the perfect match for our most glamorous new shade. And we weren’t wrong.
Inspired by the European seaside, this home feels like a slice of the Mediterranean in the middle of the Gold Coast.
We were lucky enough to sit down with Sarah & Aza, the owners of this beautiful home, to get a closer look behind the design.
Q: Your home feels so full of personality, especially with the addition of Cherrywood! What was your inspiration behind the design?
Q: We had visions of travelling through Europe seaside places as a family, but with all the obstacles of schooling and sport, etc.. we thought why not bring all that European seaside to us in our home. We wanted to feel like we were always on holiday. By doing this we needed to make sure we focused on every detail that we could.

Q: How do you want people to feel when they walk through your front door?
A: We want people to feel like they are on holiday, like they have walked off a Mediterranean beach. While our house is influenced by Hotel style, we want people to feel comfortable through the warmth and fun of our style. A place they never want to leave or want to come back to.

Q: Does living so close to the beach influence how you decorate and use the space day to day?
A: It does, being such a beach family, we really focus on achieving natural light throughout the house and by achieving that, we could really focus on pops of colour balanced with natural blends to give us the feel we want. We are big on textures and curves to give the interiors a soft feel. A lot of our decorative items represent this when styling throughout.
Q: If you had the chance to do it all over again, is there anything you’d change?
A: This is hard for us because we feel like we have done well throughout, but maybe an outdoor fire pit/place just to sit around or entertain on winter nights. Although we have an internal gas fireplace, for now, we are comfortable with that.
Q: Is there one piece in your home that has a story behind it or feels extra special?
A: We have a painting of a man riding a horse in our lounge room that was hand-painted by Jason McDonnell. It was a gift from him as during the northern rivers floods, Aza helped save his family's horse on a tiny tin boat with friends. There was a lot of emotion when we received it from Jason, as there was a big impact during those times.
