Is Your Bedroom Sabotaging Your Sleep?
Posted: 29 May 2025
Your bedroom might be the issue.
You’ve got your wind-down routine sorted.
Maybe you’ve started leaving your phone in another room, making a cup of tea, and slipping into your linen pyjamas earlier than usual (go you). But here’s a question we don’t ask ourselves often enough… Is your bedroom actually helping you sleep?

This is what we talk about in day 6 of the Sleep Guide
Your bedroom plays a bigger role in sleep than you might think. It’s not just about how cosy your linen sheets are (though that’s important too). It’s about setting the scene for relaxation and rest.

The Deep Sleep Checklist
We pulled together a few essentials to help you create a space that tells your body it's time to rest now.
- No screens for 30 minutes before bed
- The perfect temperature: 15–22°C is the sweet spot
- Try reading, journalling, or taking some deep breaths
- Grab earplugs + an eye mask if you’re easily disturbed
- Don't forget your linen sheets
Here’s the short list of what your bedroom is made for:
- Sleep (the main event)
- Relaxation (think reading, not replying to emails)
- Intimacy (no explanation needed)
And what it’s not made for:
- Work
- Binge watching Netflix
- Scrolling till midnight

In this modern world, we use our bedrooms for everything.
Our office, cinema, even a dining room (guilty). The truth is, multitasking doesn’t serve us here. Sleep thrives on routine and boundaries.
So, spending too much time in your bedroom might be your downfall.
Every day in the Sleep Guide is designed to give you one small, achievable change.
Day 6 is all about perfecting the space you spend a third of your life in.
